Samsung has been under strong scrutiny for the past couple of years for failing to introduce meaningful upgrades to its flagship lineup. However, a recent rumor, which we should take with a healthy dose of skepticism, suggests that all Galaxy S26 phones will get substantial upgrades to their cameras, batteries, and displays.

The Galaxy S26 lineup will get camera and battery upgrades, rumor suggests

Let’s start with the Ultra. It’s believed to feature an improved M14 OLED panel with some sort of AI privacy feature, but with the same 6.9-inch diagonal. The AI privacy feature is likely the one described in an earlier leak. The main, ultrawide and 5x telephoto cameras reportedly keep their 200MP, 50MP and 50MP resolutions, respectively, but the main and ultrawide units will be improved.

There’s still uncertainty wrapped around the 3x telephoto camera, though, as the leaker isn’t entirely sure whether the device will use the same 12MP sensor as before, or a larger 12MP unit, or a 50MP shooter.

The battery isn’t confirmed yet, but the report so far suggests it’ll be a 5,400 mAh cell.

The Galaxy S26+, on the other hand, will probably get a more meaningful camera update as the primary sensor will likely be replaced with a bigger 1/1.3″ one (up from 1/1.56″), the ultrawide unit will be bumped up to 50MP and the 10MP telephoto shooter will be replaced with a bigger 12MP, 1/2.55″ sensor. Although the report doesn’t explicitly state this, we believe the S26+ will borrow the ultrawide and telephoto cameras from the current Galaxy S25 Ultra.

All that information implies that Samsung hasn’t given up on the Plus model and is likely to discontinue the Edge.

The base Galaxy S26 is said to receive the same camera upgrades as the S26 Plus, but with a modest battery bump to 4,200 or 4,300 mAh.

Interestingly, the report mentions a slimmer Galaxy S26 model that won’t have as many compromises as the original Edge and will sit right between the standard S26 and the S26 Plus in terms of size.

The display is rumored to be 6.6″ in diagonal, while the main camera will be 50MP and will be joined by ultrawide and telephoto cameras, both 50MP. Battery capacity is rated at around 4,300 mAh.

All three, or four if you count the still-unknown slim Galaxy S26 phone, will run on either the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or the Exynos 2600, depending on the region.

The information comes from an unknown source, but describes the lineup in surprising detail, so an internal source might be involved. Still, we remain vigilant, as rumors about the Galaxy S26 Edge and S26 Plus lately have been quite confusing and contradictory.
