Sands China and Marriott International announced today the hotelier will bring the Londoner Grand concept to the gaming company’s London Macau casino resort.
It is the first Marriott Luxury Collection hotel to come to Macau. Previously Sands Cotai Central, the $2 billion Londoner is the reimagined, British-inspired refresh of that property. It opened in early 2021. Londoner Grand will feature 2,405 guestrooms and an array of eateries.
Londoner Grand will add five distinctive concepts to The Londoner Macao’s portfolio of exceptional dining offerings,” according to a statement. “Hampton Court will feature an international and Chinese buffet, while Chelsea Garden is an all-day dining outlet with the widest selection of local and regional Chinese cuisines featuring show kitchens throughout the garden themed restaurant. The Conservatory houses three unique areas: a dim sum restaurant and tearoom, a confectionery store, and a British pub bar.”
Sands China is a unit of Las Vegas Sands.
Londoner, Luxury Collection Could Be Ideal Pair
While Londoner is still young in hotel terms, the venue has been quick to garner prestigious accolades. was included on the 2023 Condé Nast Traveler Gold List, making it the only hotel in the gaming mecca to garner “China Top 10 Hotels” designation from the publication.
That’s a feat when considering some of the hotels in Macau command four- and five-star ratings and are known for catering to high-end clientele. Londoner’s rapid ascent could also be an indication it’s an ideal addition to the Marriott Luxury Collection — a group of hotels that numbers just 124 worldwide. That includes 36 in the Asia-Pacific region and just five in China.
Londoner Grand is being positioned as a marquee addition to the Luxury Collection and could bolster the image of the Londoner. That property along with the Parisian Macau and Venetian Macau completes Sands China’s integrated resort city.
“Londoner Grand is poised to become a signature development in the Luxury Group by Marriott International’s portfolio and a landmark in Macao, offering an unmatched blend of local authenticity, bespoke programming, and impeccable service that will attract more overseas visitors to the city and expand culinary and experiential options for the local community,” according to the press release.
Second Casino Hotel for Marriott Luxury Collection
Londoner Grand marks the second partnership between Marriott Luxury Collection and a casino hotel. The Bellagio on the Las Vegas Strip is also considered part of the Marriott Luxury Collection. That integrated resort is operated by MGM Resorts International, with which Marriott has an extensive points-sharing agreement.
Just 20 North American hotels, all in the US, are part of the Marriott Luxury Collection. Of that group, eight are in the Pacific time zone and another is in Hawaii.
