TCL had an eventful MWC 2026 with several product launches and we are now set to bring you some hands-on coverage of its latest Android tablet. The Tab A1 Plus brings a 12.2-inch IPS LCD with 1,600 x 2,400 px resolution, a 3:2 aspect ratio and a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s also available in a version with TCL’s NxtPaper tech, which gets the signature matte display coating, which is the one we got to test.

The bezels seem thinner than previous TCL tablets, and the signature NxtPaper key now glows and allows you to quickly switch between the three display modes.

Regular mode features rich and vibrant colors for regular use. Color Paper dials down the saturation for a paper-like color reading experience, while Ink Paper mode goes grayscale for an e-Ink-like experience. Tab A1 Plus also supports the T‑Pen Pro stylus, which supports up to 8,192 pressure levels.

The device features a nice metal unibody chassis with a protruding circular camera housing with an 8 MP shooter and an LED flash. There’s also a second 5MP front-facing camera on the front, and the whole device is IP54 dust protected and water resistant. The tablet feels lighter than the listed 542 grams on its spec sheet.

It’s powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset alongside 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, which is expandable via the onboard microSDXC slot. You also get an 8,000mAh battery with 20W charging support.

On the software front, Tab A1 Plus boots Android 16 with TCL’s custom interface on top. It has a near-stock feeling with all of your familiar Google apps pre-installed and ready to go. Unfortunately, TCL did not share pricing and availability details for the Tab A1 Plus.

In addition to the new Tab A1 series tablets, TCL also officially introduced its NxtPaper 70 Pro smartphone in Europe. It’s set to retail for €299 in its 256GB trim, while the version with 512GB will go for €359.
